Kidney Beans and Rice

Kidney beans Pulav

We all make Rajma curry with the Kidney beans. I tasted the Kidney beans pulav in my local Indian restaurant. I found it tasty and different than ordinary pulav. I reproduced my own version.

Ingredient:

Basmati rice: 1 cup
Water: 1 ½ cup
Onion: one chopped lengthwise
Chilies: 4-count split lengthwise
Ginger Garlic paste: 1/2 tsp
Kidney beans: 1/2 cooked
Ghee: 1 tsp
Salt: as required

Masala:
Cinnamon: 1/2 stick
Cloves:2
Bay leave: one

Chopped mint: 1 tbs
Chopped coriander leaves: 1 tbs

Method:

Wash and soak the rice for 10 min. Add ghee in a pot or sautepan fry the masala first followed by onion and chilies. Once, the onion is translucent, add the ginger-garlic paste and green leaves and fry for 2 or 3 minutes. Now time to add the rice and let the masala coat with the rice for 2 min. At this point you can transfer the masala to the rice cooker. To make the life much easier! We just need to add water, salt and the beans in the cooker. The Kidney bean pulav can be served with raita.

ShaliniThanks 4 visiting! If u want to use pressure cooker, do everything in cooker, keep the flame in medium high, leave exactly two whistles! (that works for only basmati rice)- three will be little soft but not more.
