Chettinad Egg Curry

Note: The Arusuvai (friendship chain) surprise packet arrived this weekend. I enjoy the secret ingredient sent by Dhiv & will post my recipe this week. If you like to participate & interested in the friendship link. Please drop a message or just a leave a comment

The Chettinad cuisine is well known for the spicy, fresh masala. I guess, everyone would have tasted the Chettinad Chicken once, which is very popular dish! If you google it , you will definitely come across many recipes on the net. The Karaikudi (Chettinad) cuisine is very famous for the non - vegetarian dishes. If you have already visited any Chettinad restaurant, they serve some amazing Chettinad thali (Veg & non-veg). All the dishes are fiery which we love it :)
Bored of same egg curry, kurma, and i tried to experiment this egg curry, which turns into an amazing treat for spicy palate.
Important Note: If your spice level is low, better not to try this dish!

Egg: 4 num hard-boiled
Onion: 1/2 diced
Tomato: 1
Oil: 1 tsp
Curry leaves: 1 sprig
Coriander leaves: 1 tsp minced (to garnish)
Salt: per ur taste

Masala: Roast with ½ tsp oil & grind into paste

Pear onion: 6 num
Chili: 4 num
Coriander seeds: 1 tsp
Poppy seeds: 1 ½ tsp
Cumin: 1/2 tsp
Fennel: 1/2 tsp
Peppercorn: ½ tsp
Cinnamon stick: 1/2
Clove: 1
Ginger: small piece
Garlic: 3 pods

Method:
Ground the masala.
Using fork or knife makes some holes to the egg.
Heat a pan with oil; sauté the onions followed by the tomato. When the tomato is done add the gound masala and fry until the raw smell disappear. Add ½ cup of water and drop the egg, curry leaves, salt and simmer the gravy until the desire consistency.
The spicy egg is ready to serve with plain rice or rotis.

For the Chettinadu chicken recipe , just add 1/4 coconut to the masala to be grind and double the amount of spices or check my other post.

Hey, you changed your profile pic. Looks great. By the way, in your profile page, under the contact my web page, the link is misspelled. Instead of blogspot, it is showing blodspot and taking to some other page. Check it.
