It is spring! Blooming flowers, fresh new buds, the sunshine brings smile and happiness to the earth … The weather starts to warming up but still some wind chill time to time; to remind us we are still in March.
Decided to make some warm salad and enjoy the weather too :) I grilled the pear and tossed with fresh greens and nuts. To give a final touch, I added Asian touch vinaigrette.
At the end, I enjoyed the warm fruity, nutty salad alone :) (My husb and little one don’t eat greens, they say: It is a diet food). Let see how the “diet” salad has been assembled.
Pear: 2 cored and sliced
Red onion: 1 sliced
Chilli powder: 1/ 2 tsp
Salt: per ur taste
Pepper: freshly grounded
Romaine lettuce: torn into bit size pieces.
Walnut & sesame seeds (toasted): to sprinkle
Vinaigrette:
Olive oil: 2 tsp
Soy sauce: 1 tsp
Lemon juice: 1 tsp
Honey: ½ tsp
To make the vinaigrette: just whisk it together.
To grill or bake:
Slice the pear and sprinkle some chilli powder, salt and pepper. Heat the grill in high temperature (u can even bake it) spray some olive oil and place the sliced onion & pear and turn after 3 min. Just let caramelized the fruit, it needs to be soft from outside and crunchy inside.
To arrange:
Arrange the salad in bowl or in salad plate, place the grilled pear and onion, and sprinkle some walnuts and sesame seeds. Add the vinaigrette and give a quick toss. The fruity spicy warm salad can be enjoyed in anytime of the day.
My spicy salad goes to two events:
1 A fruit of the month started by Maheswari of "beyond the usual", it is time to Raaga to host this Pear event.
2 Forwarding To Meeta’s Monthly mingle: Spring Fruit sensations, hosted by Abby “Eat the right Stuff”
