Mission impossible

Sorry guys, no Hollywood movie review! It is all about Microwave cake mission! When Srivalli announced the theme of MEC Cake. I thought it was an April fool prank and a mission impossible. But, amazing many bloggers said: they can come up with microwave cake. I was the only one screaming NO ! Srivalli is so sweet, she even accepted that i can use my conventional oven for this cake. My query search begins for microwave cake. I ended up with microwave Chocolate cake recipes. Well i guess, chocolate gives the dark colour naturally and we don't need to bother about browning the top! So I decided to stick with chocolate, which is my favorite too:)

I picked the recipe from here. But made some slight modifications according the ingredients that i had in my pantry. The result, i ended up with a perfect moist, spongy cake in less than 6 minutes! Man, you don't need an oven any more for divine chocolate cake craving!

Thank you Srivalli to hosting such splendid event, i would have never tried a cake in microwave. Nothing is impossible!Microwave Chocolate cake topped with whip cream and some shaved chocolate

Ingredients from the site:

  1. cocoa powder: 1/4 cup

  2. Hot water:2/3 cup divided

  3. All purpose flour: 3/4 cup + 2 tbsp

  4. Sugar: 1 cup

  5. Baking soda: 1/2 tsp

  6. Baking Powder: 1/4 tsp

  7. Salt:1/4 tsp

  8. Vegetable oil: 1/4 cup

  9. Egg: 1

  10. Vanilla extract: 2 tsp

My modification to ingredients above : I didn't had any cocoa powder so made with choc chip!

  1. Dark Chocolate chip: 1/4 cup and 1 tsp of instant coffee

4. Sugar: 3/4 cup (Changed to my taste buds)

11. I added 1/4 cup of chopped pistachios and pecans!

Bake the Cake

Grease a microwave safe bowl and place a wax paper at the bottom.

In microwave safe bowl, combine Chocolate chip and 1/3 of water and microwave until it melt (~ 45 sec). Take it out and whisk briefly

In mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Add the oil, remaining 1/3 cup of hot water, egg, vanilla and melted chocolate. Mix until it blend smootly. Pour into the grease microwave pan and micowave in high for 5 to 6 min. The cake will pull away from the pan and the center could be little moist but soon it will disappear! Let it stand 10 min and invert the cake and remove the wax paper. You can enjoy the cake without frosting or with a dollop of whip cream and chocolate shave.

Total preparation for cake & melting chocolate: 6 to 7 minutes!

A cake made under 6 min and power saving too :) No way to go wrong with this cake and a must keep recipe.
