Sweet Mango rava idli

Seeing all those events this month, I had a little doubt if I can make it or not? So I picked 3 events mainly “ingredients” and worked if I could come up with something one. So i came up with one dish combining all ingredients together and of course delectable! Here you are a Sweet mango rava idli! To tell the truth, my mom makes some sweet idlis for breakfast with appam batter. Of course inspired by my mom dish, I created this sweet one, which is totally different than my mom. I kept in mind Rava idli, and made this sweet one, overall, the sweet idli was a great success! Another one tried and tested in my kitchen!

  Ingredients:
Rava/semolina coarse: ½ cup
Sugar: 2 tablespoon or more if u wish
Mango riped: 1/4 cup cut into bite size pieces
Elaichi: 3 to 4 pods
Coconut:2 tbsp grated
Cashew nuts: 4 (opt)
Raisins: 6 (optional)
Water: to make the batter required amount
Ghee: 1 or 2 tsp

Ustensil :

Idli Plate/mold or microwave idli plate Microwave use: The whole process can be done in microwave with the idli steamer! Cooking time in microwave should be 3 to 4 min….

Normal stove top with idli plate: cooking time should be 10 min or more Need idli plates and cooker

  Method to prepare the mix.

Add a teaspoon of ghee add the cashew and raisin and microvawe for a min, it took less than a min as the quantity was less…
Now mix all the ingredients together and pour water to make a thick consistency. You can see the water and rava won’t mix together, don’t worry. Let it rest another 5 min, now it should be thick enough.. Grease the idli plate with little ghee and pour like idli and cook in microwave (3 min) or stovetop (10 min).
Let it cool another 1 min and scoop the idlis from the mold. It should be enjoyed right away! Note: Make the batter like ur normal idli batter consistency, the sugar in rava idli will melt while steaming the idlis…

Please free to modify the sweet level too Can be enjoyed like sweet breakfast or teatime snack/tiffin!

The sweet mango rava idlis are reaching 3 events... 1. "Steamed dishes" in Microwave hosted montly by Srivalli 2.Think Cardamom hosted by EasyCraft, originated by Sunita 3.Mango Madness-WBB theme selected by Arundati, brainchild by Nandita Hope u enjoyed my sweet creation :)

hummm sweet idlis...tht is pretty creative. just a question, i can not microwave it in idli molds (as they are usually steel, right? so just use a microwave safe dish, and then cut it as dhoklas??maybe
Cham said…
Karuna If u re using microwave safe bowl try to put in another separate bowl of plain tap water(microwave safe Too) to create a steam atmosphere and cover the bowls with wrap (microwave safe too)

this looks really delicious. when we make microwave idlis, they come out hard. wonder why.

Bee: If u r microwave idlis re hard, try to reduce the cooking time. And place a bowl of tap water too in between the idli bowls
