Flavor of Wasabi

Wasabi is a root known as "Japanese horseradish", categorize has a spice. The pungent taste leaves a burning sensation instantly and disappears quickly. Other than sushi, I already tasted the Japanese wasabi green peas! It is a spicy snack which gave me an itching sensation to my tongue sengihnampakgigi

My wasabi paste was just resting in my pantry until Kaykat came up with "Think Wasabi", event started by Sunita "Think Spice.. think".

I decided to prepare the sweet onions rings flavored with wasabi and for those who need more kick like me, I made the wasabi sour cream dip kenyit Spicy buddies , you gonna shower me with hugs love and those who hate spice , guys you are really missing something in your lifetime putuscinte

For the onion rings, I fetched Emeril’s recipe. But i made modifications.

Wasabi Onion rings with wasabi sour cream dip

Ingredients:

Onion: 1 (I used white has more strong and spicy flavor) sliced in ½ inch .

Butter milk: 1 cup

Wasabi paste: 1 tsp

Salt: per ur taste or (1/4 tsp)

Liquid batter:Mix wasabi, salt in buttermilk . Soak the onion rings in buttermilk.

Flour: 1 cup

Baking powder: 1 tsp

Salt:¼ tsp or more for ur taste

Mix all the dry ingredients together. Take the soaked onion rings and dredge in flour . Arrange in plate and dip again in buttermilk mixture and coat with flour and shake of any excess.

Oil:to deep fry.

Heat your fryer for 350 and deep fry. Or fill oil for deep-frying in deep vessel and fry it. Drain in paper towl and enjoy with wasabi sour cream.

Wasabi sour cream

Sour Cream:1/2 cup

Wasabi paste: 1 tsp

Salt: a pinch

Mix all together in bowl. Enjoy ur wasabi ring with wasabi dip.

Note : I felt after deep-frying the wasabi flavor disappear or may be evaporated! Sounds crazy but true! I made some roasted wasabi peanuts, I end up with no trace of wasabi, good thing I finished already ¾ of my tube.

Already I feel many of my spicy buddies lapar over my onion rings!
