Naanini

Wondering about the bizarre title? Simply found the name at my local Indian restaurant. Just the name of the menu "Naanini" captured my attention. It was just a naan filled with vegetarian items or Chicken and grilled like Panini (kind of hot sandwich). I would probably say a Hot NAAN-wich. Ok, who bother about name? When the food is tasty delicious and most important simple to assemble. The main idea is grilling the Naan, so feel free to add any vegetable of your choice, leftover dry curry or even Non-veg (ex: chicken tikka, grilled shrimp, left over tandori or even roasted chicken), hey the idea is endless for those sandwich. Another thing, you can make it at the stovetop with a grilling pan, no need of fancy panini maker or outdoor grill. The hot sandwich would be a great idea in winter time when u miss the outdoor grill!

Naanini

I assembled my naanwich with grilled paneer, capsicum, onion.

Marinate for Paneer: For making 2 Naninis Paneer: 6 pieces cuts into cubes or even lengthwise doesn’t matter. Bell pepper Red and green: ½ each cut into lengthwise Onion: 1/2 cut into lengthwise Marinate only the paneer: Ketchup: 1 tbsp Chilli Powder: ½ tsp Garam Masala: a pinch Yogurt: 1 tsp Salt:a pinch (optional) Mix everything together add the paneer and grill it (no need to marinate), grill the vegetables separately and now to assemble the naanini. To assemble the Nanini Naan: 2 (I used store bought) Mozarella cheese (partly skim): 2 deli slices (yes we need to glue the sandwich so cheese is necessary) To grill the naanini: Utensil: Stovetop Grill pan Heavy skillet (I used a cast iron skillet) to press it down

Take one naan and start with the cheese slice, add some grilled vegetable and top with paneer pieces. You can even add any sauce or chutney (like mint or even pesto) Now fold it over.
Preheat the grill pan place the folded naan , now carefully take the iron skillet and press it down for 3 or 4 minutes!
Next carefully flip the other side and press again with the skillet. Another 2 or 3 minutes. You have a wonderful tasty, hot sandwich to relish in a minute alone or with your family.

Grilled Naanini is participating the Grilling event hosted by Sig, originated by Meeta as Monthly Mingle. Panini or panino , Italian pressed sandwich. My Naanini got a little makeover to adopt our Indian taste bud, will be my second entry to Italian event AWED celebrated by DK.

On a different note: I don't consider myself as a great cook (still learning my ABC's in the cooking, he he). So I am not participating in the competition.

Cham-

That is one super naanwich discovery, I think the trick is to cut the naan appropriately. Great dish.
