This recipe features every week in my menu. I created accidentally this recipe. I planned to cook one pot meal: Bise bele bath. I went to the kitchen rinsed the rice and dhal and next checked the pantry. I realized, I was running out of many spices for the Bise bele bhath masala! It was too late; I have to cook the soaking rice and dhal. I didn’t want to prepare Kichdi or Arisi parrupu sadam (Dhal rice), reason I need to prepare a side dish! I was not in mood to cook any elaborate dish! So I seasoned with onion, tomato and ginger-garlic and cooked the rice and dhal together. It smelled like biryani without veggie or meat. It was an instant hit! The most important thing, no worry of chopping, mixing, frying, and nothing complicated steps. You can fix under 10 minutes in the pressure cooker and another 20 min the food is ready. You have a hot comfort food! I will give the exact proportion for one cup (US standard) not to be confused with the little rice cup which comes with the electric rice cooker. This recipe can be adapted according your like. U can use frozen veggie, sambar powder… But try plain you or your kid will like it definitely! I love for the simplicity of the rice!
Masoor dhal Biryani

I like anything simple, quick with rice. I came accross this Curried eggplant rice of Suganya Tasty palette. Very simple to put together with few ingredients in hand but very bold in flavor. You can see the delicous pictures first and next go to check the recipe. She will definetly capture ur attention in many ways. Some of the simple dish will get a royal touch through her lenses. If you haven't visited , got to check her place for her photography skills!
