I am crossing another milestone; yes, you are reading my 200 post! Thank you for your generous support and encouragement throughout my journey!
I am not going to say I never thought I will reach this point! I still have many drafts of my family treasured recipes, non-vegetarian and simply a basic recipe which was my aim when I started this blog. I will try to bring out in the limelight before the recipe fade from my little memory.
For celebrating this milestone, oh, no there is no Event launched- there is more than enough in food blogosphere in every day basis. But I felt a few technical tips could be useful probably each and every one who read this post or own a picture blog. Sorry guys, no recipe but you might enjoy more than delicious pictures or sweet recipes this post.
Tired of the word Plagiarism- I implemented few things. Again, there is no absolute way to stop anyone from copying your content, but …
Track what content is copied?
Tynt: What’s being copied from your site? Not only you can see what content is copied, it provide automatically a link back to your website - is that cool! I got to tell you for few days, I felt sick seeing all my content copied.
Try: copy and paste from my site in word doc, email, etc... you will see another link at the bottom!
Another way to protect the image: By placing a transparent layer over the original
The user can download but only a transparent image/background image. But there is way to download the original; it is not the purpose of this post.
First you need to create a transparent image.
Use any photo editing software: I use Photoshop
Create a new picture giving a name: Transparent image
Width: 1 pix and Height: 1 pix-
Background content: transparent--->Save in PNG format press Ok
You have a tiny dot pic. Now load the transparent picture in any image hosting server: like Flickr, photobucket, etc…
Now copy the URL of transparent picture and note it down.
Load the original picture in image hosting server and note down WIDTH - HEIGHT and URL of image
Find the Width and height of original picture (don't ask me how to find out) -usually the image hosting server will provide the information.
That is it, DO IT in EDIT HTML mode and preview don’t switch back to compose. The transparent image will overlap or goes BLACK sometimes! or User cannot view the image.
Here the code 1 using transparent layer:
<img style="POSITION: absolute" alt="" src="Transparent Image URL" /> <div style="POSITION: absolute; FILTER: alpha(opacity=0); BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000; WIDTH: px; HEIGHT: px; opacity: 0; moz-opacity: 0"></div><img title="" border="0" alt="" src="Ur Image URL " /> <div></div>
All the highlighted area should be changed
U can check by Right clicking my previous post picture and save it and see it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Code 2 : disabling the right click only over the image.
Just want to disable the right click on the image, by placing a oncontextmenu=return false will deactivate the right click. But there is an "easy way" to download the image!
<div oncontextmenu="return false" style="text-align: center;">
<img src="Place your image URL" /></div>
Here another example: try to Right click
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bit of overwhelming all this code simply by rendering the Border value = 0 will deactivate the hyperlink. But can be save the image by right clicking.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All the above codes work under MAC and Windows, and in all browsers.
Do u feel now how much we work behind in each in every post! Food blogging is a daunting task! Please Respect others hard work- Give Credit when it is due :)
Guys u feel it is scary – just forgot it! Or If you are in need to protect from users who simply RIGHT CLICK and SAVE. Go ahead use any of this code which you feel comfortable. I noticed after using this code – Image coping has been reduced dramatically! Thanks to Tynt to give an overvue!
I am ready to help out any bloggers! If there are lots of queries or clarification in same issue – I will do another boring tech post.
Right now I am busy with my kid who is in Spring break! Slow in blog hopping but catch up soon.
I opened anonymous comments not to spamming – inviting any negative views – or non-blogger view! Negative will outline where I need to concentrate and improve my blog!

But this post is more useful that anything else, thanks for sharing these info about plagiarism.
True, we spend hours thinking about a recipe, cooking, taking pic, uploading, writing and in the end, someone in a second can grab it.
Thanks for all the info here. Very valuable to new bloggers like me. Will let you know if I have any questions.
I wouldn't mind more tech posts of this genre! :) Thanks again! Really appreciate it!
And congratulations on your 200th post!
A hearty congrates on your milestone! Wish you will have more than 2000 posts some day!!! :D
Very interesting and informative post, just a couple of months back someone copied entire posts from my site and some other fellow blogger brought it to my attention, luckily we were able to stop that person, but these tips are useful to protect at least to some extent our content!
Thanks for painstakingly doing the technical post, but I have to admit, these html codes give me a headache..:)
The flowers look like the December flowers( I am not sure if you call them the same ) we get in Chennai.
Love this post. If I make a recipe , i copy the recipe from the original blog, but i do give a link to the original recipe.
After the break I should look to that tyt link you gave.
And i think i am also going to buy photoshop element as i dodn't have it.

@Little Food Junction
Thanks a bunch.
So I had a quick question if you don't mind... I registered with tynt, and when it says content copied from your site, and show what posts are being copied... does it mean someone is just copying (maybe to recreate the recipe) or does it mean that it is being used in another link? Is there a way to find out who copied the contents?
it is all a little hazy, so I thought I will clarify with you since you have used it before.
Thanks a ton!
Only one clue, without paying, with help of sitemeter and copying hours we can track the IP. But still headache....
As I said , it will make u sick if we see the content beeing copied! But I always look the image part...
Thanks everyone for encouraging and appreciating my post, hope it will someone one day!
